Pharm - are you kidding me?

Seriously! My course is 7 weeks long and I have my first exam next week. How in the world are we supposed to learn/know all these drugs? I am making medication classification cards but so far, there's about a million of them and I'm nowhere near being done. It is just not possible to stuff all this info into my head. I'm seriously freaking out right now, on the verge of tears and wondering if I can do this...

First of all hun relax! You cannot get anywhere if you allow yourself to be defeated in the beginning. Pharm for me was 5wks and we had 2 exams each week so I feel your pain. Start by classifying the drugs according to their actions. Then remember the suffixes for the group (i.e "lol's"=beta blockers). I have done clinicals and shadowed nurses with 1,000,000 years experience and guess what they do not know every single drug. Dont beat yourself up. Keep your head clear and speak it into existence. U can do it!

You can do it. Yes you can. It is a lot to learn but it is doable.

As you make your drug cards, pay special attention to the "special" stuff..like does the drug change urine/sweat to red, or do you need to take the apical pulse before administering, etc. They love to test on that stuff in pharm.

All the best to you.

I was in the same boat as you! I also had it for 5 weeks only. Take a deep breath, relax. Like everyone said look at the nomenclatures, if they have one and it will really help. I got this spiral book that fits in your scrub pocket. Memory cards, has picture in it. Cute cartoons will help. If I can do it so can you! Especially if you have my old brain! Lol

All my classes are 5 weeks so I know how you feel. I'll admit, I stuggled in Pharm for the first 2 weeks due to a family issue I had to deal with. I thought I was done and had to take the class again. After that, I really progressed. So don't worry. Take a deep breath, study every chance you get for Pharm, do study groups with the people in your class (worked for me). You can do it. Good luck :)

I've start my 3rd week of classes (Pharmocology and Fundamentals) tomorrow and I've already had 4 test.

yall are lucky that u got 5 weeks. I get 20 days... 60 clock hours. oh pharm to learn all that information. I have a test on my 3rd day of class
