PGCC Spring 2015

I know this is an outdated post but I just wanted to know if you were accepted and if so when did you receive your acceptance letter?

I actually was rejected initially but a few weeks later I was accepted due to other ppl not being able to fulfill their seat in the program. I got my rejection letter around Christmas time but I was accepted about a week before classes started which was in January.

Congrats on being accepted into the program. I am currently petitioning for spring '16 and wanted to know if you had any insight into the program and requirements to being accepted (Ex: teas score, gpa)?. Also how how you like the program so far?

Hi there and thank you! They actually just started having the teas test as a requirement for the program this year so I didn't have to take it when I petitioned.. But honestly it's mainly based on GPA and then how many prereqs you have completed already. The higher the GPA the better your chances are and that varies based on the overall strength of the applicants that apply at the time .. I had a 3.2 and got rejected initially so if you have a very strong GPA you're good. But even still I was still able to get in bc somebody else couldn't accept there seat in the program so that's always another factor to consider so don't ever be discouraged if you're like me as far as GPA. But as far as being in the program the instructors are great.. You now need an 80 as a passing grade for the all of the nursing classes and a 80 is a C it used to be 75. I think the NCLEX passing rate has been low for PGCC graduates so they're trying to improve the success rate by making changes to the program bc the school is in jeopardy of losing their accreditation so a lot of changes will probably be continue to be made But you'll be fine! Nope not at all it was easy to me, probably the easiest nursing course you'll have but idk what changes they may have made from when I took it last year. But you don't really get that much into the actual nursing material just yet.. It's just to prepare you for the program you talk about the history of nursing how it came about, how to take notes setting goals drug calculations/math which is very important bc every semester during the first 2 weeks you have to take a dosage calc exam and u have to pass with a 90%.. A lot of ppl aren't that strong in the math so if you aren't that strong in math start practicing now so you'll be prepared for the semesters to come lol! And for 1010 you'll also have to interview and RN for an assignment!
