I have been in labor & delivery for over ten years.
I am currently facing personal issues relating to fertility issues this year that has made it very difficult for me to be at work and taking care of patients who are having babies. I don’t want to seem selfish but it’s all mental and I really can’t help it. I am trying hard to hold myself together at work. Some days it’s difficult to even go in. And if I am assigned to care for any fetal demise, I think I’ll just cry my eyes out, not for the patient but issues relating to me.
How should I handle this? I don’t even know what would be the best patient assignment for me…. Any advice suggestions, greatly appreciated.

I’m very sorry you’re dealing with this! I can understand why it would be very hard. Please get some counseling asap. You have a lot of stress going on and you need to take care of yourself first and learn how to cope with your fertility issues and possibly depression and/or anxiety that may be creeping up.Then you need to decide if you need to find a new area to work in or maybe an outpatient job for a while. With that much experience you won’t have trouble getting back in if you leave and decide you want to return one day. Best wishes to you! ❤️

This seems pretty tough, I would personally make a switch. If I was having issues having kids I couldn't imagine being around women having them all day long..
