I "assume" it would be working in the admissions or recovery/discharges of patients for surgey.
I "assume" it is not an operating room tech. That is a very specific job where you know all the instruments used in surgery, you are the surgeon's assistant, handing them the instruments.
The job varies a lot depending on if it is out patient surgery, or in patient surgery?
In admitting a patient for surgery you might bring patients back to the pre-operative area and get them ready for surgery, or assist the nurse getting patients brought down from the floor ready for surgery. Take vital signs, have them change into clean gowns, put on compression stockings, shave, prep with betadine (or whatever scrub they use). Spike IV bags, get them warm blankets.
In recovery (or discharge for same day surgery) you would transport patients to their car or back to their floor. Help them get dressed, bring them nourishment, bring back their family to visit. (Really really varies depends again on in-patient or out-patient).
The terminology really varies, post anesthesia care unit, recovery room, all mean the same thing. That is why I'm not even sure what your job would entail?
Ask questions. What type of surgeries do they mainly do, orthopedic? "general" (that means gallbladders, biopsies, hernias, etc.). Do they do pediatric surgeries? Ask them what the job would entail.
haha, yes I definitely will have to ask, I am just glad to possibly have to opportunity to do something other than a medical floor.
Thanks for your assumptions :)
