Hi,
I applied for a new graduate program a couple weeks ago. I had my interview with the clinical nurse manager and education manager on Tuesday. They said I probably wouldn't hear back from them until next week sometime. I felt really good about how the interview went! The following morning I received a call from the floor that I ranked as #1 for hire, they wanted to set up a peer interview. Today I had my peer interview via telephone. What does a peer interview mean? Is it a second process for hiring , or just a placement for which floor you are hired? I'm SO excited, I just don't want to get my hopes up too high and be disappointed.

Typically, a peer interview means that you are interviewed by not only the manager of the floor but also a few of the staff as well. Was there more than one person involved in the phone interview?
When we do interviews for our OR hires, the first interview is with a manager. Those who make the first cut are then interviewed by another manager, 1-2 surgical techs, and 1-2 RNs from the unit.
Yes, the peer interview had a different nurse manager from the floor then the first interview also there were 2 CNA's and an RN. They said they would let me know next week what my status was. However, initially in my interview it sounded like they didn't do a peer interview until you were selected for the new grad program. It seemed like they were saying the peer interview was more to place you on which floor they thought you would fit best on.
