I have recently graduated, and have an interview for an RN position at united regional in Wichita falls, tx. I have went to two interviews and have a last peer interview tomorrow. I am super nervous and really need this job. Just wondering if anyone could help me figure out what this interview may consist of. Thanks!!

I was hired into my position nearly 10 years ago, but I did have a peer interview. It was with 3 seasoned nurses who asked me scenario/case study type questions. For instance, you walk in to see your pt and he is unconscious on the bathroom floor but his vitals are WNL what do you do.

They are there to see if you are a good fit with the rest of the staff.

Try to have a few good questions for them. What makes a good coworker, what is great about this unit, etc.

Agree with chevygirl that the peer interview is a chance for both you and your prospective team members to see if you are a good fit for the unit. My unit does a lot of peer interviews. We look for nurses with positive attitudes and those who seem to really be interested in our specialty. Even if they know nothing, a willingness to learn and a good attitude can make all the difference.

Go with a reason you would like to work on that unit at that particular facility. Ask your potential peers what they love about the unit. Try to relax and let them see the real you. Take a deep breath before you attempt to answer a question that is difficult. Dress professionally and don't forget to smile!
