When creating an account with Pearsonvue I see we have to pay the $200 fee for the exam and pick our state. I looked it up and it says we have 365 days to take the exam after registering. I'm wondering for MI if I also have to register for the MI BON or what other steps I have to take? I graduate end of April and want to take the exam as soon as I can. I heard paying ahead helps speed up the process. Do I have to submit fingerprints/background check etc? Thank you!

I figured this one out!! Just in case anyone is wondering as well... Register for NCLEX on Pearsonvue $200. There is a separate form to mail into the state of MI along with $54.54. The state then sends you a form for fingerprinting and requests a background check. This can take up to 4 weeks so I'm told.

Just so you know, the MI BON is notoriously inconsistent with processing. In our graduating class a few years ago, we completed our MI BON paperwork in February and were told not to register with Pearson Vue until we completed the fignerprint & background check with the state. When we graduated later in May, about 5 people got their info validated by the BON and were able to sit for NCLEX a week after graduating. Quite a few more had to wait until mid-June. Then there were those of us who were unfortunate enough to have the slowest processor of them all. Not only did this person "lose" my application, they tried to claim I never mailed it in. Fortunately, I had attached a check, which was cashed (in May!!!) and was able to prove they must have received it. Mailed in a new application and then they kept saying they wouldn't process it because I didn't include payment. AARRGGHH!!! It was such a frustrating process. I didn't end up getting to take NCLEX until July 9th. My license didn't post until the 16th. There were others who took NCLEX and their license posted in 24-48 hours.

My point is, do everything you can up front, but just know that you absolutely cannot rely on them to process consistently. Pray you get someone who does their job well :D

Wow, thank you! I just mailed my application to MI on Tuesday. I called ahead and they said they would keep it on file for 3 years if anything happened. Glad I sent it in early then!!!!

I graduated in December. We were told by our school to register with Pearson Vue and send the application to BON the first week of December. I got my letter for fingerprinting (and did my fingerprinting) before New Years. My school just sent our degrees to the state this week and should be getting ATT in two weeks.
