PCCN Certification

Took the test in June and passed. I used Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio's CCRN dvd's and her book of 1200 review questions, and I just skipped over info about art lines and vents.

The actual test questions were much more complicated than the ones in the review book though.

I took and passed the test in August. I also used the Laura Gasparis CCRN DVD, but that was only because I had it handy from when I was studying for the CCRN a couple years ago (then never took it, lol). I also used the book Progressive Care Nursing Certification by Thomas Ahrens. This was a pretty good book as it review each system and then goes into the diseases that may affect those systems. The downside of this book was that although it had review questions for each system, it only contained 2 comprehensive exams and those exams did not change (as opposed to having full length exams that randomly pull from a pool of questions so it can be changed up each time you take it).

I would first suggest that you take a look at the PCCN test blueprint on the AACN website and make sure you choose a book/DVD/CD that is based on that blueprint. It will really save you time and energy from just studying random diseases and conditions that may or may not be tested on. Good luck :yelclap:

I just passed this test today. :w00t: My unit got the review DVDs from the aacn website for PCCN, and I also used a new book Progressive Care Nursing Certification by Ahrens, Prentice, and Kleinpell. The cd of practise tests it came with was particularly helpful.

I studied hardcore (like two to three hours a day on my days off) for about a month. Hope this helps. Study hard, you can do this!
