Paying for NCLEX

Published

How long after you pay for NCLEX are you able to take the test?

I graduate at the end of this month (LPN). I plan on registering and paying for NCLEX this week. Will I be able to take the test in August or is there a longer wait period or anything like that?

Thank you very much!

Once you pay for the test and complete all the requirements for licensure, you will be able to schedule your test. Unfortunately one of the requirements for licensure is to actually have your degree. So for right now, what you can do is make sure all your fees, picture, and all that other stuff that they require (application, copy of birth certificate, etc) are all sent in. That way, when your school sends in your endorsement saying that you graduated, all you will have to do is wait for your Authorization to Test, which they will send via email. People in my class who had all of their stuff in before graduation (May 9) got ATTs around May 15 or so and were able to schedule test dates as early as May 25 or so. As far as how long you will have to wait, its really a matter of how far you wish to travel. Some testing centers are busier than others and usually only 10 people or so are scheduled for a certain time slot. So if you are more flexible on how far you will travel, you can probably get a closer date. Hope this helps.

Yes that helps a lot. Some of the girls paid 2 or 3 weeks ago so I was worried I would be far behind. I did not realize we are pretty much waiting to graduate and for the school to send in the OK for us to take the test. That makes me feel a lot better.

Thank you very much!

You're welcome. You should be fine if you graduate at the end of the month. They say to allow as many as 10 days for your application stuff to process. Just be sure to DOUBLE, TRIPLE, QUADRUPLE check to make sure you have everything correct (the application may have a checklist). I forgot to sign my picture and that one thing caused me to have to wait 2 weeks longer to schedule my test. Good luck with everything.
