Pay

Hi everyone!

I'm a nursing student in Kansas and I would like to move closer to my mom (she lives close to Butler, MO). My question is, what are new grads getting paid in areas like Butler, Harrisonville, Neveda, Joplin, and Kansas City? The only hospital I saw with a pay scale was St. Joseph Hospital in KC.

I am looking at both hospitals and nursing homes. To be honest, I'm leaning more toward nursing homes just because I want to make sure the old folks get taken care of. I just finished clinicals this semester at a nursing home, and while everyone in my clinical rotation hated it, I loved it! I love taking care of older adults.

Any information you could pass along with be great! :roll

Thanks,

Sherri

Hello...are you hibernating for the winter? :chuckle

Hi Sherri, I live in that area. You didn't specify if you are going to be completing your RN or LPN, So being a LPN i can give you the ranges, in Butler your going to be looking at about 13 to 14 per hour in med/surg and about the same for LTC.. for an RN i would suppose the pay would be at least 5 to 6 bucks higher. Harrisonville area the pay would go up about 2 bucks for each.

I do know you will have no problem securing a postion if you decide to relocate. Best of luck i hope this helps. :-)

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it!

I will be an RN by the time I move up here. My plan is to get a part-time position by the summer working as an LPN on weekends in the Harrisonville/Butler area while I'm finishing up my last year of school. I know it sounds strange to not get a job in Kansas, but I know if I do that I won't see my mom much at all.

Thanks again for the information...the pay is better up here than in Wichita!

Hello, go to http://www.salary.com and type in nurse and your exact area and it will tell you the average income there.
