I have been shopping around and got offered this package, however i'm getting different numbers with respect to housing. Also getting my numbers off with pantravelers calculator due to exact figure for insurance missing. Hoping you guys could help me figure this out. Not sure where they're getting $7500 from because when I add up the numbers they come out to equal $6923.00 for the entire assignment.

Here is the pay breakdown:

Breakdown (with insurance):

A total weekly package (on 36 hrs a week) of $1712.08/week after taxes.

Hourly Rate: Hourly Rate of $33/HR ($20/hr taxable and $13/hr non-taxable) which equates to a weekly bring home of $1039.00 per week after taxes on this hourly rate alone. All hours worked over 40 will be paid to you are $49.50

PLUS a Housing Allowance of $7500 broken down and paid to you by Agency at $576.92 tax free per week.

PLUS Travel Reimbursement of $1250 total broken down and paid to you throughout the duration of the assignment at $96.15 tax free.

Add these weekly amounts together and you get a total weekly package of $1712.28 per week after taxes.

Breakdown (without insurance):

A total weekly package (on 36 hrs a week) of $1784.08/week after taxes.

Hourly Rate: Hourly Rate of $35/HR ($20/hr taxable and $15/hr non-taxable) which equates to a weekly bring home of $1108.00 per week after taxes on this hourly rate alone. All hours worked over 40 will be paid to you are $52.5

PLUS a Housing Allowance of $7500 broken down and paid to you by agency at $576.92 tax free per week.

PLUS Travel Reimbursement of $1250 total broken down and paid to you throughout the duration of the assignment at $96.15 tax free.

Add these weekly amounts together and you get a total weekly package of $1784.08 per week after taxes.

Also do you guys think it's a fair deal for Reno?

Can't help you with a fair rate for Reno. That can only be done by checking with several agencies about compensation for your specialty, skills, and experience.

But to compare offers, you need to break them down into something comprehensible. PanTravelers is great for that. I believe these quotes to be identical, one merely reducing the per diem by $2 an hour to pay for insurance. When I divide $7500 by 13, I get their number so I don't know where you went wrong there.

Here is your pay per PanTravelers giving something to work with if you get other offers. Without knowing your specialty, experience, or whether this is a critical need versus regular need, this seems like excellent pay. I'd suggest negotiating for a higher OT rate if there is OT available and you want to work extra hours. Your regular hours are worth a total of $55 an hour, and they want to pay you OT at $52 an hour (they have already covered their costs on your base hours so this represents a huge raise for them perhaps $20 an hour without doing the math, and a decrease for you). Don't waste your negotiating capital if you don't want this assignment or OT is not available, or you won't work OT anyway.attachment.php?attachmentid=20109&stc=1

Thanks for the in-depth response. I plan on bargaining for the OT pay..$7000 is pretty steep for a 13week assignment

What is $7,000?

What is $7,000?

The roughly $7500 for housing, a bit steep for Reno no?

I'm not sure I follow. That $7,500 is based on the cost of moderate priced hotels per GSA (and is usually spot on). That is the major tax loophole travelers are working with, the cost of short term apartments or shared housing is almost always less. Craigslist can usually supply a good idea of local housing costs before actually taking an assignment and doing some serious looking.
