Pathology Assistant

Does anyone know the steps of becoming an pathology assistant? I am enrolled at Baker College (just enrolled and start fall of 2017). So I am a little confused about the steps. Do I become an RN first then work in that field? Or do I have to attend a school specifically in the pathology field? I live in MI and there is only 1 school and it's about 2 hrs away....... can anyone help me? Thank You!!

The AAPA may provide you with some info: American Association of Pathologists' Assistants (AAPA) Lots of information under the "About Us" tab.

It appears that becoming a pathologists' assistant is a completely different path from nursing- the focus of the two careers/professions are quite different. The website above also lists accredited programs: NAACLS Accredited Training Programs for PAs - American Association of Pathologists' Assistants (AAPA)
