passing nclex

Hello fellow nurses

I am taking nclex-rn soon and I'm turning to this forum for some more encouragement. I have been out of school since april and changed my test date a few times already. Listening to everyones stories of how hard nclex is discourages me sometimes. I feel like there's not enough time to cover everything and i fear i won't be ready. Do you ever feel ready prior to taking nclex? And does anyone have any tips or words of encouragement for me at this time? I want this so bad and i know i can do it but i am nervous

Read the last sentence of your post over and over. YOU WANT THIS AND YOU WILL GET THIS!!! You worked your butt off in nursing school and you graduated what an accomplishment already! No one ever feels READY for the NCLEX!!! Trust me on that one. Do not listen to what people say as it will only discourage you more and more and make you feel more afraid. As long as you prepare for it you should succeed. Pushing the test date further and further will only make you feel less prepared in the long run. No one ever feels ready even if they do every NCLEX prep course under the sun and every NCLEX Q+A book. Truth is you will never be ready. You just need to think like a nurse and all NCLEX wants to make sure of is that you don't kill your patient.. Safety safety safety is majority of what the NCLEX stresses. Pick a date get a prep book or two and do between 75-150 MAX questions a day and make sure you take the test and review your questions/answers within the same day!! this is very important. Also make sure you read the rationales for EACH AND EVERY QUESTION! Even the easy ones.. as you will get a better understanding WHY you are getting them right/wrong.

Do you ever feel ready prior to taking nclex?

You have to feel that you are ready to take the test.

You will not know everything, but you must know what is safe vrs unsafe, acute vrs chronic, actual risk for injury is a priority, and etc.

There is a video from kaplan that tells you what the nclex is all about and is about the pt. safety.

good luck and we all were scared before taking the test and petrified after the test!

Think of mild/moderate anxiety but do not get to severe or panic anxiety!

Thank you. Im going to check out the kaplan video and try my best to relax

Thats very true. Everytime i push the date i think of more things i should be going on and it sets me back just thinking of not having the time to get through everything. And listening to the horror stories does not help. Thank you for replying
