Passed Nclex

Published

Passed NCLEX on March 4 with 130 questions. This was my third try. There are were two resources there were absolutely useless and a waste of money. First was Saunders, I hated this book because I would have to dig in paragraphs just to find the basic important information. This book was all fluff with very little detail. Plus the questions at the end of chapter were a joke. Next useless source I used was NCSBN, which was a waste of $50 bucks. It gave a review of the most basic common sense information for each top. It might be good for people beginning nursing school, but not for the NCLEX. The source that did help me pass and pass with ease. Hesi book by Elsevier, Hurst review, STUDY GUIDE for the NCLEX by Elsevier, UWorld, Nclex Mastery. My road to passing was I would review one topic like fluids and electrolytes in the Hesi book and Hurst review then I would do as many questions on this topic using Nclex mastery and UWorld until I completely understood fluids and electrolytes. I would do one topic a day until I finished both books and burned through all the questions. I bought the STUDY GUIDE until a week before my exam because it was published on December 2015 and has all the up to date information on CDC and Evidence based practice. I loved this book, it's very detailed, has lots of Numonics, diagrams and graphs. It has every thing important outlined in one sentence or less. It gave me step by step nursing care for TPN, NG tube, Asthma inhaler, closed chest tube, tracheostomy tube, which was hard for me to answer questions on. The Nclex loves asking questions about these topics because it's all about safety. At the end of every section there would be 15-20 practice questions, but the book comes with a code to register online for access to >2000 questions. Nclex mastery and UWorld were similar to the nclex, I thought UWorld was harder than NCLEX. I liked nclex mastery more, but both are a must have.

Congratulations on passing.

Graduations! thank you for sharing your story. Do you feel the exam is most heavily weighed on priority , delegation and safety questions?

Mainly safety and which patient should the nurse assess first. Must know common manifestation of each disease. My nclex was full of fundamental questions. Had a few on ethics and evidence based practice.

Yes, I read about fundamentals being the foundation of nclex and prioritization being the most likely asked questions. Thank you for quick response :) Wish you the best on job hunting :)

Hi, were you asked medication questions? Like, did you come across a med you didn't know and had to guess?

Take the full course of antibiotics and don't crush medication. Questions: pt couldn't swallow the large table of viagra and pt wanted to break tablet in half. I got lucky and didn't have hard med questions

Congratulations!
