I just took and passed the boards 2 days ago and can't believe that after all these YEARS of being graded, studying, testing, observed, and generally living with a constant fear of not ever knowing enough......it is OVER! I took the FNP test and it was a moderately difficult test. Not impossible at all. Especially since I studied non-stop and basically overstudied and began to feel that I was losing the information more than remembering it. The best strategy for me was to buy the Barkley book and CDs, and a bundle of 20 AANP tests in my specialty, and go over the answers; right or wrong. I learned how the test will 'look' and how to read the question clearly....I tend to answer backwards if I'm hurrying. Oh, and by the way, I used every second of my 3-1/2 hr test! Now, comes the real thing. Every nurse I've ever met has said the same thing; "You will learn on the job." School was so long and frustrating...I look forward to listening to my patient my way...not the cookie cutter graded template that was opposite my thinking. That's the bonus....you are finally out of school. Good luck to anyone about to take this test. Remember; it is entry-level testing, and test friendly. It is doable.
