Pasadena City College RN Program Spring 2019

Is anyone planning on applying for the Spring 2019 semester (due October 1-31)? The new applications are up!

Hopefully we all will be celebrating an acceptance in the next few months. Good luck to all!

Hi. I will be part of this cohort of applicants for the Spring 2019 semester.

Best of luck to everyone!

I have a friend who was told by the counselors that she could have her microbiology course in progress and still apply for the Spring semester. Everything I have read or heard has been the opposite and that the science pre-reqs MUST be completed before the application due date. Can anyone here clarify? Thanks!

When I went to the Nursing Info Session, I'm pretty sure the nursing counselor said the following 5 courses MUST be completed at the time of application: English 1A, Anatomy, Physio, Micro, Math 131 or 150. It states this clearly on the checklist as well.

@Bosoxgirl3358 I was just wondering, what other schools have you/are you going to apply to? I've only applied to Rio Hondo so far, and will be submitting my application for PCC within the next couple of weeks. Just gathering all my stuff together. This is the first round of applications I'm doing, and it's nerve wrecking!

I'm also planning on applying to LA County, Citrus, GCC, LACC in the coming months.

I am only applying to PCC for the Spring semester, but I am going to apply to LA Valley College, College of the Canyons, and possibly GCC and LA County for the fall (if I decide to re-take Physio to meet the recency requirements).

I applied to PCC for Fall 2018 and was an alternate. But once you get your applications in, you're good to go. Then you just wait and wait and wait, which is the hard part!

Have you calculated your points yet? I wonder what the cutoff is going to be...

That's what I'm getting from all the threads I've been reading... The waiting game :nailbiting:

I've calculated my points for the PCC app and I'm at 85. Do you know what has been the cutoff for the past?

What are your stats if you don't mind my asking? I don't have BA or any healthcare licenses. Everything is just based on TEAS and gpa mostly. I was doing volunteering to try to get extra points, but they stopped awarding points for that =/. Just got my AA, but no points for that either =(

Hi all,

Where is PCC's new application for Spring 2019? I've checked their website and the current application doesn't seem up to date. (Link: https://pasadena.edu/academics/divisions/health-sciences/nursing-programs/docs/RN_and_Career_Ladder_Nursing_Application.pdf?v=2)

I emailed their health sciences department not too long ago, and they said statistics will replace their new math requirement, but it looks like Intermediate Algebra as a prerequisite is still on their application.

Another question - looking at that same application, they also mention "Additional Required Classes" including Political Science, History, Humanities, PE, etc. I didn't have to take any of these classes when I earned my Bachelor's this past Spring (not in nursing), and these requirements aren't mentioned anywhere on the website. I'm a bit confused on what to do.

Anybody familiar with this process that could help would be awesome. Thanks guys!

Hi =) I think the link you provided is the current application, is it not? At least that is the same application I am filling out.

Hello! It doesn't look like the current application takes statistic into account as the general pre-req (but it does for co-requite?) That's why I'm a little confused since the health sciences department told me they would look at statistics, not Intermediate Algebra, as the math pre-req. I guess I'm just a little confused!

Hmm... I'm not sure about that. Maybe that's something that might change in the future? As far as I know, Intermediate Algebra is what's being used to calculate GPA in Category 1. I think I read somewhere that Calculus can replace Algebra? Statistic is used to get an extra 5 points in Category 3 if you have taken it and got a C or better. If I remember correctly, you have to take algebra before you can take statistic. So students who have already taken algebra, but maybe not stats yet could technically still apply, but just not get the 5 points awarded in Category 3.

I could be wrong though.

The best thing for you to do is to talk to a counselor, or email one of the nursing counselors.
