Panicking

I am not sure whether or not i should be worried or panicking right now. I'm taking my NCLEX-PN next week and i'm using Saunder's Q&A book and doing all the questions in that book but i am answering more questions wrong than right. Does it mean i am more likely to fail my real test next week? Do you have to answer certain percent of questions correctly in order to pass, like I had to get 75% right on my test in nursing school. Should i postpone my test date and maybe study a little more? When you did your review questions how did you guys do? Did you answer most of the questions correctly?

I am not yet a nursing student, but want to wish you good luck :)

I just took the NCLEX-RN, so I am not sure how the test differs from the PN, but I think if you are uncomfortable with the material or really concerned about whether you are prepared or not, then perhaps postponing would be a good idea. However, you must realize that no one is ever 100% comfotable when taking these kinds of tests. Before you make your decision, you may want to consider the answers to some of the following questions:

Did you take predictor tests in school? If so, how did you do?

How long have you been studying? Did you just pick up the book or have yo been studying right along? How often do you study?

Which areas are your strengths and weaknesses?

Are you getting lower scores on the general practice tests or in specific areas/topics?

From personal experience, the tests in the books and CD Roms were difficult and sometimes I got scores as low as 30%! I just made sure I understood the rationales so I knew why the right answer was indeed right and why my answer was indeed incorrect.

Really, the only person who can tell you whether you should postpone the test is yourself (well, at least in my opinion). It's helpful to put it all in perspective: There is no way you can get all questions right when doing practice questions, and those books are used as a guide to help prepare you for the real test and help you identify areas you may need some extra practice in.

I wish you the best of luck and I recommend that you do what your intuition tells you...only you know if you are ready to test or not. Keep us updated! :)
