Paid to Chart?

Published

Any NP's that work in a clinic setting (who are not salaried) that get paid to chart? For example if your day is 8-5 but it was packed with no time to chart and you have to spend time charting after.

Specializes in Psychiatry.

If you're working 8-5 you should definitely have a hour of paid charting time since that's 9 hours a day or 45 hours weeks if 5 days a week.

If you're salaried you can ask for paid charting time as part of your day. At my current company we have 40 mins after lunch with no patients for admin time such as callbacks or charts or prior authorizations. I chart very quickly after each patient so I rarely have to use it and simply take a 2 hour lunch but it's not uncommon to have that dedicated time for jobs. As a revenue producer you should negotiate with your employer whatever will make you happy.

Hm okay thanks what about if you're a 1099 (independent contractor) employee, does that make a difference?
