Pac

Is it okay to draw a lab specimen from a PAC? And how about Huber Needles when the pt first gets them placed do you have to keep the needle in or can you remove it after the abx therapy is finished? One more thing can any one out there give me good instructions on how to give Vancomyacin Therapy through a Picc/PAC for the future I am having such a hard time:o Thanks!!!!

Yes, you can draw labs from a "port-a-cath", same as any central line. It's also fine to leave a port with an Infusor cap between meds, it doesn't have to be left running (if that was your question). Your facility should have policies for all that stuff.

Not sure what are you asking about Vanco?
