i am a nurse in the Philippines and working in a tertiary hospital for 3 years. i got an offer to be a nurse in Melbourne. i already passed all the requirements to NBV two months ago. i am just wondering how long would it really take to know if im qualified? im a bit impatient of waiting..:crying2: then, they say that once qualified ill be working as enrolled nurse. i have few ideas of EN's work, can anyone explain more of what their tasks are, salaries and workload? how can a EN can be a full pledged registered nurse? what are the process to take?

please help enlighten me with my concerns....thank you!!!:redbeathe

hi yoj1001,

when you say you passed the requirement to nbv, did you mean submitted?? in the hospital where i'm working (melbourne, we call our division 2 nurses EN). so i would say you will be classified as division 2 nurse..div 2s job is the same to div 1s in exception of giving medications. however div 2's with medication endorse qualification can give s/c and other meds except IVs...it's good though if you have a position as EN so while working you can work out your bridging course..where in melbourne are you working??

hi physteac! thank you for the reply.

yes, i submitted my requirements at NBV last nov and im quite worried about my application, since i still didnt receive any news. anyway, it gives me strength knowing that tasks as EN would be almost similar to what i used to do.there is still no specific hospital which i will work to.:confused:for now, all i can do is wait patiently.

one more question, could you enlighten me about that bridging course? is that ill go to a university and study again? the aftr 3 months is there any examinations i need to take to become a RN?

How were you able to get an offer to work in Melbourne? Do you mean that a hospital in Melbourne offered you a job? Are you done with your IELTS? Who told you that you will only work as an EN? You submitted your application to NBV and haven't heard from them right? So how is it that you know that you will only be granted EN by NBV?

I'm asking you because your post is quite unclear and people will be able to answer your inquiries if you lay down the scenario more clearly.

However, like what physteac mentioned, if indeed you will be working as an EN then you will also be working as a nurse only under the supervision of an RN and you will not be able to administer meds not unless you are granted EEN. You will also have a good salary slightly lower than a grade 1 nurse and you can also qualify for permanent residency if your employer will sponsor/apply for you.

I am not particular as of the type of course you will have to take to become a full fledged nurse, but yes you will have to study in a school/university that offers the program. I don't think you will have any major exams though, nothing like NLE or NCLEX for that matter. As long as you finish the course then I guess you're deemed competent to be a licensed nurse.

I'm still confused as to how you already know that you will be assessed as EN, when you haven't received your assessment from NBV. I assume that you're an RN here right?

actually, it is a local employer with an australian partner firm offered the job. they are sponsoring nurses via a 457 visa.they also said we will be working as enrolled nurses. i already started the process last year. the NBV already sent me a letter, but unfortunately there are some documents i still need to resend to them for the initial registration as div 1 nurse. i am also done with my ielts exam.
