i'm suspecting this is a methadone clinic (although anything is possible). beyond administering methadone, i'm sure they involve the nurse in some of the treatment groups. they may also have the nurse do an admission physical assessment and monitor any medical issues. can you provide more info?
all i know about this facility is that it is a detox program for both drug and alcohol addiction. and this is not a inpatient hospital program but an outpatient program.
when i did my clinical rotation at the hospital inpatient detox program, there were both rns and lpns and lpns job duty was to give medications to the patients. i wonder what are the job duties for nurses at the outpatient detox program.
I never worked outpatient only inpatient. Because, the unit was free standing, non medical (state funded as well!), nurses did many things. Admission history and physical assessments, psych evaluations, TB testing, HIV counseling, lectures, some groups and responding to medical emergencies. Why not call them and ask? Or go on an interview. Although, I don't make a habit of interviewing, I have done interviews when unsure if I wanted a change and looked at it as an opportunity to get some infor on different facilities. Good Luck.
