The orientation for my program is next Monday. I am not living in the town yet so I will have to take a train with my two kids there then a bus to drop them off at a daycare then back across town to the college. How can I seem well put together and make a good impression after spending five hours traveling? I don't want to dress up while on the train, either a frumpy jeans and tshirt or a hippie dress will be comfortable for travel. Should I bring a change of clothes for orientation? Should I even bother with make up? I have the highest grades of the incoming class and want to make a good impression but I think that will be difficult after traveling all day. Any suggestions?
Thanks

You cant put light makeup on at home? Its only five hours...touch up in the bathroom at school, if you are that worried.
What about a pair of khakis and a nice shirt? At my orientation most people looked like they did any other day in class, but I understand that you want to make an impression.

I don't remember what anyone was wearing at orientation. Except the girl that looked like she was going pole dancing after. That was a ridiculous.

i say a dress or dark jeans and a loose-fitting dress shirt with your hair up and earrings. Maybe a bangle for the wrist and light makeup. - Go comfortable on the shoes!
my two cents for what its worth.

I would go looking presentable. If you are taking a train.... do your make up on the train :-) I am sure people do it all the time!

when in doubt, do business casual. We have to wear our polos and either khaki or black pants. We have class pics and our pledging ceremony so I guess they want us to wear our lecture uniforms. khakis and polo are nice.
I would say bring a change of clothes, especially depending on how old your kids are. Do whatever you feel comfortable with as far as makeup
