Dec 9, 201510 yr The only "OR Program" that I know of is an extensive training & orientation that the employer gives new hires. Traditionally, you must sign a contract for X number of years that you will work for that facility, due to the fact that orientation is so long and costly.
Dec 10, 201510 yr Admin There are some schools that offer a periop course. However, I view these courses as unnecessary. First, you need hands on experience to back up the classroom education. Secondly, even if you shell out the money for such a course, you will still need the full orientation provided by an employer, which will cover everything in the course anyway. Instead, look for a facility that offers a residency or structured orientation program for nurses new to the OR.
