I am planning to travel in 2012. I unfortunately let my CNOR certification lapse a few years ago. Do I need to have this to travel? I have 23 years experience.

I've been traveling for a year and half. I have CNOR. I don't know if this has opened doors for me or not. Recruiters say, "oh that's good", but I don't know what hospitals look for, really. Maybe the magnet hospitals like it. What I do see a lot for requirements for OR nurses now is ACLS.

Thanks, Deb. I do have ACLS. I may try to recertify..we will see. I may try an assignment and see if I like it rather than stress. Thanks so much for your input, though!
I really love what I'm doing. Some stress, but very different. Very happy!

I am an OR Travel nurse with an ADN. No CNOR, but I do keep my ACLS current. Some hospitals push their staff to be certified but I didn't have any problems working with them not being certified. Keep current with anything that is coming out where you are, think before acting, do your best and you will do fine.
