Online programs

Hi! I live in Suffolk County NY. Was just wondering if there are any LPN or ASN programs online that are affiliated with local hospitals for clinicals. I work FT and would love to do an online program. Already have a bachelors and masters in education but want a career change

LPN courses are not offered online, and you must be licensed as an LPN to take an online ASN program, so, in general, the answer to your question is no. You will have to attend a brick and mortar LPN program first.

Thanks! Figured that but I thought I'd ask just in case of a miracle.

Hi Tsnider!

University of Wisconsin–Osh Kosh has a 12-month online ABSN (accelerated BSN) program for those who already hold a bachelor's or higher in another field. From my research and according to the school's claim, it is the only program of its kind. Clinicals are held in the student's home community. Three short-term, on-campus residencies are required (each a week or less).

I had looked into this program when I was searching for prelicensure programs. I crossed the program off my list of possibilities due to its cost—about $35K at the time, if memory serves. Also, students are required to abstain from employment for the duration of the program. Therefore, based on your original post stating that you wanted to continue working, it may not be a good fit for you.

Good luck!
