Online lecture classes

Published

Just looking for some info/support/good advice...our local community college has just started offering the lecture classes all online with the clinicals still at the hospital, obviously. Has anyone ever tried this? I work from home as a medical transcriptionist, so I totally understand the whole disipline issue of studying at home. I graduated in 1996 with an associates in applied science and liked the classroom setting, but I now have a family and online classes would work much better. I would only have four semesters and would have my ADN. Just curious. Thanks!:chair:

I have taken my entire second year in the online format. I LOVE it and it works well for me. Some people do not adapt well to this type of class, but it is a wonderful option for me. I will be graduating in March, and have signed up for my last quarter and all 4 are online classes.

We still go to clinicals at the hospital and we must go to campus for tests (tests must be proctored)every other Monday.

Other than that it works very well and fits well into my life between work and family.

Good Luck to you....JJ

I am nearing the end of my second semester with Deaconess College of nursing. All my didactic classes are online and clinical is in a hospital in my area.

For me this school was originally because I had no other option but it has turned out great. Having taken previous online classes I knew what I had to do in order to make this work. While online learning is not for everyone, it is perfect for those who understand and want to be in charge of their education. Sitting in a classroom with students who's main life gripe is poor nail art is just not for me. Working full time, holding down a home and being part of a family leaves very little time for education. For me every minute counts. The plus side is I can decide what days and times to attend class.

Online is the only way I will attend class. Besides, I know I would not be permitted to wear my big pink fuzzies and sip coffee in most traditional class rooms!

Say, can anyone experience these online lectures? Are they, like, out there on the world wide web?

Or do you have to have a password, etc.

Just curious. And interested. And always looking for more ways to reinforce my learning....

Thanks
