online degree programs for adn?

Have perceptions regarding online degree programs changed from generally negative to positive? Most of the historical posts here indicate a somewhat negative perception of online degree programs. One recent poster even indicated that someone she knew heard from several hospitals that they would avoid hiring candidates from an online community college in my area.

I have found that online schools are more demanding as I must take greater responsibility for learning. I am also not usually impressed with the caliber of the teachers, but I make up for it with extra textbooks and extra studying. (This has resulted in a science teacher in an in-person class telling me that I was the best-prepared student he'd had.) --I think I am ready and able to do well in the local online program, but I am concerned that it would hurt my initial work prospects as a new grad. What do you think? What has been your experience?

My online LPN-RN degree has not been treated any differently than any other degree. In fact, most of the ADN and BSN schools in this area have at least some of their theory work online. In any case, if they look at my degree, it simply states it is from that college, not that it was an online program (the cc that I went to also has a classroom based program).

This comment excludes Excelsior, which is not recognized by my state BON anyway--you can't sit for boards with a degree from there. I don't know how Excelsior is viewed in other states. My state requires a certain number of clinical hours with a clinical instructor from your school, and Excelsior doesn't meet that. But it also means that, even if you went to an online program, you still had clinical time equal to the classroom based programs.

I don't think people blink twice at my online degree. I had unsolicited job offers from nearly every clinical site (I already had a job waiting--but my job offers helped me negotiate a higher salary-yea!), and they were obviously well aware of my online-student status.
