I've always wanted to go to CRNA school but the school is three hours away and my husband has a good stable job and can't transfer We also have two young children. I see a lot of other advanced practice programs being started using online programs. Has anyone heard of a CRNA program being started online. Thanks for your time.

Not that I'm aware of... without sounding rude, I pray they don't have one. With the AANA fighting to show the equality of CRNAs to MDAs, having any portion of the CRNA program conducted online would be a huge step in the wrong direction.

While I agree with the spirt of your post-I too have high hopes that there will never be an online nurse anesthesia program-the AANA is not fighting to show equality with MDAs, many CRNAs through the AANA are fighting to make the public aware of the record of quality and safety of nurse anesthesia practice evidenced over the greater than 100 year history of the profession.

At least part of Drexel's program can be taken online.
I found out about the program by accident.

"Do you offer online courses?
Yes. All of the graduate nursing core courses for the Nurse Anesthesia Program are offered online with some blended virtual class requirements. All nurse anesthesia core courses are delivered in class and broadcasted for the students enrolled in the distance option, via an interactive video teleconferencing program, which allows for live interaction and student participation during lectures."

I know that this thread is old. But thank you for the information. There's nothing with online education. Obviously there should be a clinical compnent to the CRNA that must be completed at a facility. Noway should someone be allowed to sit for the CRNA exam with out having clinical experience as a SRNA.
