One year LVN programs in Bay Area/Contra Costa?

I am on unemployment and going to Merritt College for LVN...our program is 18 months and I qualified for my benefits. I am also on my first extension.. The thing is that the program actually ends up to be a year when you consider that you have summers off, a 5 week break for Christmas and a week off for Spring Break...all I was told that I needed to do the recieve my benefits was to look for part time work....

If you go through a private school, Western Career College, in San Leandro, you are looking at $44,000 in loans and is the only private school that I know of that offers financial aid based on the FASFA...their program is also 18 months...Unitek ($32,000) and the other private schools do offer finanical aid and have to get private loans for thier LVN class, but I think that Unitek's program is only a year..

I wasalso trying to avail the CTB but to no vail, they keep me going around in circles, i just want to know how you got pproved (if thats ur case). I live in santa clara county but to no avail, the one stop centers just makes a fool out of me.

Fortunately I just got into a LVN-RN program and will start in the Fall.

-Do you know If the California Training Benefits Program works if I attend a LVN-RN bridge at a community college?

-Do you know If I can apply for the CBT now, to expedite the process for Fall? Or would I have to wait till I'm actually laid off...

I am not sure if they cover that. The best thing to do is call the EDD and ask them. I am no longer on unemployment, but when I was and applied for the training benefit, there was a lot you had to do to even get accepted. It took me a good 3 months to qualify and complete the process and then wait to see if the funds are available for the training program. From what I was told, the school needs to be listed under the training providers (ETPL) and junior colleges are not included in the list. I had to switch to a private school to qualify for the program. The program pays a portion of your tution (up to $4,000) and do not pay for a degree program.

If you go or call the One Stop Career Center in your area and inquire about the WIA (workforce investment act) they can give you more information on what you need to do to get started.
