I am moving to San Diego hopefully in September. My husband is American and i am British. He is transfering with his company and we have applied for a spousal visa. I still have to apply to the CGFNS for the CES and i know that i need to be approved to sit the NCLEX exam. I was planning to sit the exam when we have settled over there as i will have my green card.
Somebody at work told me tonight that i need to sit 2 exams the CA state boards every 2-5yrs and the NCLEX is this true as i was under the impression that the NCLEX was the state board exam.

There is no California Board, the only licensing exam in the US is the NCLEX. Once you take it, you never have to take it again.
There have not been state boards for years.
:trout: Give this to your co-worker.
And why are you going to get a CES? CA does their own credentials review, they do not need or require the CES. Save yourself a few hundred dollars. And just ask here, especially when others have no idea of what they are talking about.
When are you actually coming to the US and planning to test? I would suggest that you go the route of Vermont and then just endorse, much faster to get things done that way.
Thanks Suzanne.
To be honest i have been lax in my studies, but will start again today.
Thanks for the info about the CES in CA, i was a bit apprehensive about the cfgns, especially regarding how slow they are and wasn't willing to part with $360 quite yet.
I have been lurking for the past three months and i should have asked in the forum.
I am waiting for notification of approval from the US embassy, and my husband is hoping to start his new job in September.
I'll take the test when i am ready, but i don't know when that will be.
