OHSU's ABS program

I've heard from a few people that they got calls this week and last from OHSU telling them they were accepted into the ABS program. I was told by OHSU's nursing dept that they only notify students by mail. Does anyone know whether the fact that I didn't get a call means I didn't get in?

I keep hearing about this my classmate applied and hasn't received a call but another friend did. I would think they would also mail something though.

I've heard of a few people getting calls but I thought that was an odd way to notify candidates from such a large and competitive base. Since I work on the hill I stopped by the nursing admissions office to ask how the process is going. The receptionist said that the faculty are trickling in with their decisions (from last week through next week) and that they have been sending out letters as they receive decisions from the faculty. I then asked about the students receiving phone calls. The receptionist got kind of short with me and basically told me she could not give out information on the acceptance process. So basically I'm taking that as they are calling candidates. Doesn't make much sense to me but I guess that's how it's going.

That really sounds like an odd admissions process - decisions "trickling in" from faculty would be understandible for a grad program with multiple specialties, but for the abs program you would think the admissions committee would finaize their admit decisions all at once. Hopefully we all find out by next week.

I had that same experience. I called and the woman I spoke with was really irritated and didn't know what to say to me when I asked why people were getting phone calls when she just told me that they only notify people by mail. If they make phone calls, fine, but don't say your policy is one thing if its actually another. I heard on Friday that someone got a rejection letter, so even if I haven't gotten a call - at least I haven't received a rejection letter yet.

Has anyone else heard from them yet? The email they sent last week made it sound like they didn't really know when they were going to notify people.

Nothing here either, I'm thinking the end of this week or sometime next week. Nerve racking huh!

I've already accepted a position at another school. Man, OHSU is sure dragging it out...

No word here either.

Yeah, both the other schools I applied to told me in march. I got into one outright, and was accepted off the waitlist for the other last week, and I have tell them by friday. So OHSU has sort of taken themselves out of the running for me because of the delay.

My friend got the call several weeks ago now. He had until tomorrow to send in a deposit that locks in his position. I'm guessing they may make alternate calls next week based on this deadline to accept, but who knows. Their admissions performance is lending evidence to what I was told by a current BSN student--OHSU has poor student support.

Personally, I've transferred my hopes to MHCC and CCC.

Well, there is more waiting in store for me. I got my letter saying that I am on the alternate list. I hope you all fared better!

Hmmm . . . the mystery!!
