Offer-need help!

I am thinking about travel nursing and I received an offer to travel to a med/surg floor in Augusta, GA at a VA hospital.

The offer is:

hourly pay rate: 25.86

HWB: 4.02

Holiday pay: .99

Total hourly rate: 30.87

Travel Pay: 0.55/mile up to $250 maximum

Per diem weekly: $300 based on 40 hours per week

Estimated weekly housing costs: $200

This is for 3 months. I only want to work 36hours/week. Does this look good or bad? What should I ask to get changed? I do not want to work overtime. My purpose for traveling is to experience the area not to make a lot of money! But I need enough to live off of and to pay my mortgage in Denver.

Also I am confused about housing. Does this mean they are giving me housing or I have to find my own?

Thanks for your help!

Monica

You are getting $300 a week towards housing and meals. No idea if this offer is competitive for someone in your specialty and your experience in that area. The only way to find out it to get some offers from other agencies. If you do that, use PanTravelers Calculator to help compare the offers. As far as changes, it never hurts to ask for more money!

You should get 280 for meals alone. Housing should be significantly more than that. If your total pay doesn't equate to something at 40/hr then you are being taken for a ride. Definitely get some other offers. It certainly isn't about the money but he paid what you are worth. The last thing you want to find out is that you are working along side another traveler who is making 15$/hr more than you for doing the same job.
