ODU concurrent fall 2015

has anyone applied to ODU for fall 2015? if you did, you can see they gave you the option to choose traditional BSN or riverside concurrent. I work with riverside and was told the concurrent program would be now getting an AAS from riverside while attending odu for your bsn. I was just wondering did anyone apply, and what was your gpa, hesi score , etc. I currently go to TNCC in hampton, finished all my pre-reqs except chemistry & sociology (currently taking), have the experience as a CNA and Anesthesia Technician, the only thing is that my hesi score was an 82% and my gpa is currently a 3.1 (thanks to C's in anatomy) Anyone else applying?

Im currently in the ODU Nursing program and I know you need a HESI score of at least a 85% to be considered and As in both Anatomy courses to be competitive. You can email the advisor Ms.Hawkins. She will happily talk about the program.

I currently attend ODU. I applied for the ODU/Riverside concurrent program. I checked the "either" box on the application. I was late deciding that I wanted to major in nursing so my grades aren't quite up to par with the average acceptance GPA. But hey, the application is free so there really is no harm in applying(maybe my emotions lol). I have a 3.45 GPA and my HESI A2 score was 87.14%. I have a few other back up plans and schools. I also applied to TCC.

Finally someone else that checked either! Ive applied for both as well, but my gpa isn't so good and thats what scares me. Ive talked to Mrs.Hawkins multiple times, and she always says that my experience will suffice the fact that my gpa is low. (3.2), and my hesi was an 85%. I was going to apply for riverside before, since i am an employee there and they always come to my job to recruit students. I know the traditional BSN for odu will be extremely hard to get into, so I'm leaning more towards the riverside concurrent. In my application I've put my riverside volunteer hours, my cna license, as well as my riverside badges (CNA and Anesthesia Tech) from work. So hopefully that helps! Hoping i get in because i know people in the program already who don't have those high grades & experience like do claims they want. Maybe ill get lucky haha. I also applied to TCC as well as thomas nelson.

I do not have any previous experience related to nursing. I actually plan on doing my LPN if all else fails and then do a LPN-BSN or LPN-RN program. I looked in to TNCC, but I live in Virginia Beach and that's pushing it for commuting (at least for my sanity). I am hoping to know by late March for ODU and mid-April for TCC. Sentara's BSN program is an option as well. Sentara's application is not due until mid-June and you'll know in late-June, how awesome! So that will be my last RN application. Riverside has a LPN program and the application is due in August, so it really works out in terms of finding out who will take me before I have to change my path. My friend has also checked the "either" box on the application. I am unsure of her grades/test score. Maybe not that many people have heard of the concurrent program and that will increase our chances!!

I have thought about Sentara too. I know someone who recently got in there with surprisingly a 3.1 Gpa & no experience í ½í¸³i was surprised considering they're so competitive as well. I have been looking at LPNS programs also, there is a Lpn program in norfolk called Central School for Practical Nursing, the application is due in May & the school starts in September. It's only 18 months & costs a total of 8k for adults. I think i might pick up an application just incase! I haven't seen any Lpn programs so cheap. It's like a technical school so it would be a mix of adults and high school students

Obviously I hope to be accepted in to an RN program! Virginia Beach also has an LPN program like that, but it's is about 6,000. I think it is a good alternative for now. I just wish these letters would hurry up lol

Me too! lol. I hate how TCC takes two months for letters. I really hope to at least be accepted into the riverside concurrent. I even emailed the school representative from riverside, and they won't tell me what GPA or hesi scores they are aiming for. The wait feels so long lol.

I have emailed an advisor over at riverside as well. They are only accepting ODU students in to their next class, so no one is applying directly to the school. This makes me excited because I feel that the number of people actually applying concurrently is going to decently lower. I wish more people would find this topic and reply! Maybe we are just the only impatient & anxious ones lol

I'm a Riverside graduate and the first student to actually do the concurrent enrollment with ODU graduated in Aug 2014. It's a rather new thing. They are pushing for that since Riverside wants to go magnet and you need nurses that have their BSN. If you just enroll at Riverside you get the RN diploma. I heard it was tough for her to do the concurrent enrollment but she made it. I was a E/W LPN to RN bridge student and we graduated with the day division Aug 2014 class. This riverside/ODU concurrent program is new this year. I know there has been the concurrent enrollment before but this type is new. You actually apply through ODU and then both riverside and ODU go over the applications jointly. So there will be a class of just ODU students at Riverside. It's pretty awesome!

Were you happy with the Riverside program? How did you manage to also do the concurrent class at ODU?

Yes this program is totally new, so you'll be getting your AAS while going to ODU and they only go through ODU now supposedly, i know alot of people who liked riverside's program though, and working & volunteering for them isn't so bad;)

I applied for ODU and when I hand-delivered my application, I was asked if I wanted to apply to the Riverside concurrent program as well. I agreed to do so since it gives me more options. But my number one choice is ODU, of course! I scored an 87 on the HESI and my GPA is kind of tricky. I have attended multiple colleges since my husband is active duty military, so I'm not sure how that works. Do they just consider the most recent GPA or do they take an average of them all? From most recent to least, I have a 4.0, 3.6, and 3.0. At least it shows steady improvement! I do not have any previous degrees or nursing experience. I am so anxious and really hope I get accepted!
