I am a new grad interested in Women's health jobs. I wanted to know if it is necessary to get some certifications like EFM to make me a more attractive canditate or do you think that it doesn't matter since the job might provide me with those certifications.

What other type of certifications would be helpful? Thank you.

The only certs I had going into my job was ACLS, HCP CPR, BLS. My job provided me with NRP, and EFM. That said, each facility will be different in their hiring practices and whats beneficial for you in the hiring process. Good luck!

Some certifications require experience in the area before you can even take the test, eg NCC certs.

Specializes in Nurse Manager, Labor and Delivery.

most certifications require previous experience in order for you to sit for exams. AWOHNN has a basic fetal monitoring course online that you could take, but any further fetal monitoring courses again require you to have at least 6 months experience to take those. Good luck

Thank you for the replies, good to know.

Most places will provide you with certifications, such as NRP. Generally you are responsible for CPR - BLS or ACLS, depending on what they require. STABLE is an excellent program as well, if you are looking for certifications that enhance your resume!
