Hello all,
Is there a short course on completing the OASIS paperwork, or a book that anyone could recommend?
Also how long should it take for an RN to complete it?
Thank you.

I've used every edition of Tina Marrelli's classic spiral book:
The Handbook of Home Health Standards: Quality, Documentation, and Reimbursement – New 2018 Edition!
QuoteThis “Little Red Book” is all about assessment, care planning, patient/caregiver engagement and supporting quality, safety and improved patient outcomes. Favorite sections include foundational concepts of coverage, documentation and standards to support compliance, reimbursement, and value. The Handbook supports the delivery of efficient, standardized, interdisciplinary quality care and from an evidence-based practice perspective. The Handbook provides tips and strategies for success in areas of common deficiencies.

The Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) is the patient-specific, standardized assessment used in Medicare home health care to plan care, determine reimbursement, and measure quality. In addition, a physical assessment is required as part of Medicare regulations which can be added by an agency as a separate form or combined with required OASIS questions into one document.
CMS has released information on OASIS D1 assessment version which began 1/1/2019

Kathy Quan's HomeHealth101.com website has wonderful information regarding how to document homebound status and visit assessment/instruction results.

NRSKaren, thank you for your very helpful response. Is it still OK to get the 2018 version of Tina Marrelli's book, although the latest OASIS in 2019?
Yes! Book will help you understand the basics of home health documentation, diagnosis, patient goals, coding, OASIS and Medicare guidelines to get you started in this nursing specialty. Medicare changes OASIS assessment about every 3-4 years with addition/deletion of few questions but nuts and bolts of assessment remain.
