Oasis Nurses??

Published

Hi everyone, I currently do private duty nursing and have an interview tomorrow as an Oasis nurse. I didn't even know there was such a thing but I am assuming they are responsible for admitting pateints and doing the initial assessments and doing all the OASIS forms. Can anyone shed any light for me?

Thanks, Amanda

You've got it. The Oasis is an involved admitting form that takes nearly 2 hours to complete. It helps to have a really good orientation, and to answer the questions as completely as possible. Aside from admittance, an Oasis is completed if the pt has been in the hospital, even one night, and every 60 days when the pt is recertified for continued service. Those are a bit shorter.

Also, if you are doing the admissions, there will be docs to call, med sheets to complete, and that most-dreaded of all paperwork -- the careplan!

Ask about the orientation, time & deadlines, mileage.

Best wishes!
