Hi everyone! I was just accepted to the NYU accelerated nursing program and will begin the program in Spring 2016 on the basis that I complete and pass all of my prereq courses. I was just wondering if there is anyone else that is in the same boat that I am or will be applying for admission into the program for Spring 2016. Can't wait to meet some of my future classmates!

Hi! How were you able to be accepted to the program so early? I'm looking to apply but I am not finished with my prereqs yet and will apply once their portal opens again. Also I am worried about the competitiveness of the program. I have a 3.1 undergrad GPA (majored in a hard science) but I do have 2 years of volunteer experience, work experience as a pharm tech and I'm taking the GRE as well. Also my prereq GPA is a 4.0 so far.
I was able to apply so early because I applied to the nursing program as a second degree seeking nurse and I was accepted into the program on the basis that I completed some of my prereqs at nyu this fall before going into the nursing program in the spring

Hey,
Quick question how long did it take for them to give you decision? I'm thinking of applying but I live in Florida.

Hmm.. I am also trying to apply for Spring 2016 to NYU Nursing Second degree program. But the portal does not have an application for Spring yet. I called NYU and the admission department told me the application for Spring '16 should be available soon.
How were you able to apply?

Hello! I was accepted for the spring 2016 program as well! I have to take nutrition this fall at NYU, will you be taking this class as well?

Hello! How soon did you guys find out you were admitted? I just filled out my application today and am nervous!
Hi all! So in response to all of the questions, I was able to apply so early because I applied to the Second Degree program which means that I was accepted into the accelerated program on the basis that I completed the prerequisite courses I had left to complete at NYU. Since I only needed to take micro, I'm currently taking that at NYU now and will be moving into the accelerated program in the Spring. The wait to hear back from NYU with a decision was excruciating since I got my application in around maybe January and didn't hear back until mid May, but I know that the decision for Spring will come sometime before the beginning of January so hopefully the wait for a decision for the Spring won't be as long as mine was

@msrxchef Congrats on getting accepted! I submitted my application last night 9/24 for the Oct 1 priority deadline, ordered my transcripts, and mailed my letters of recommendations this morning. I hope they get everything on time! NYU was honestly my last option being that it is super expensive. However it seems like it's my only option at this point, so I really really hope I get in! PACE already sent me a rejection letter before the Sept 15 deadline for January admission
My background:
Received my Bachelors in Finance with 2.98 in 2008
Currently in Respiratory Therapy program with another year and half to go and GPA 3.45
Overall undergrad GPA 2.87
Science GPA 3.4 or 3.5
AP1- A
AP2- A
Micro- B
Stat- A
Intro PSY- A
Developmental PSY- In progress
Chemistry - In progress
Nutrition - In progress
I'm a little concerned that these last few pre-reqs are still in progress and might ruin my chances on getting in. I don't plan in failing getting no less than A- in these remaining courses. If I get A's in these 3 classes, my overall cumulative GPA would be 2.97 which isn't enough for the 3.0 minimum that alot of these schools are looking for.
Didn't think my 1st few semesters of my undergrad from back in 2004 when I was still unsure with life would come to haunt me. It's really giving me a hard time with my applications. I thought the accelerated programs would only look at the GPA where I completed my Bachelors. Apparently, schools are still able to fulfill enrollment even with the raised standards. Year by year nursing is getting crowded and harder to get in.
Ive worked in Cornell Hospital for over 6 years now and sent 2 recommendation letters, 1 from an RN Patient Care Director and the other from Coordinator and I also work with 2 clinical instructors that teach in NYU. I hope this gives me a boost from having a horrible GPA.

I am interested in applying but I know that there are 2 deadlines. Is there a disadvantage to applying after the priority deadline?

Hey all ,
I applied to the ABSN program on Oct. 1st . I haven't received a decision letter yet.
Has anyone else gotten accepted, or denied yet?
Thank you!

I think there's another thread for this https://allnurses.com/new-york-nursing/nyu-spring-2016-a-1001827.html
Sent in my application Oct 28 and got an email today at 12 something that I've been accepted! :)
