NY Schools

Hello,

I recently moved to NY and would love to start a accelerated nursing program. I would love anyone insight as to which schools around NY would be good. I have two kids and so anything near NYC would be great. Thanks in advance.

Well, first, would you prefer attending a public or a private school? If it does not make a difference, then here are some schools that I think are great for ABSN:

Public

Pretty much any CUNY school - Hunter and Lehman are the only ones that offer ABSN. Warning: these schools are ultra competitive, so aim for perfect 4.0 GPA and perfect HESI/NLN scores.

SUNY - SUNY Downstate, Stony Brook. These are also public, a bit pricier than CUNY, but still affordable. Just like CUNY, these schools are very competitive.

Private

NYU, Columbia, LIU - are at the top of my head. LIU is the cheapest of the three. Columbia is the most expensive of the three. Columbia offers an accelerated MSN. NYU and LIU - accelerated BSN. Since these are private schools, they accept a lot of students, and their admissions requirements are not as tough as those in public schools. Finally, if you choose to go to a private school, be read to cash out tens, or even hundreds (Columbia) thousands of dollars to cover tuition.

The above post has great information, I just wanted to include Pace University.
