NVCC Spring 2020

Hi,

I started this thread for those that want to chat, brainstorm and encourage each other through the application cycle.

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how many applications they have gotten so far or how many spots are available?

Thanks for starting this thread, @KayDRN! I love the idea of encouraging each other during this nerve-racking application period!

My name is Kate and I live in Manassas. I'm returned to school after a pretty long hiatus but am super excited to pursue nursing.

What's everyone's biggest application insecurity? Mine is math. My TEAS score in math was ok, but my course history is a little less than impressive.

Best of luck to all and I hope to see you in the program! ?

Hi Kate! I think mine is the TEAS overall lol I haven’t taken it yet and I don’t know what to expect ?

how long did it take for you to complete it?

I too am returning to school after a pretty long hiatus, hope to see you at orientation!!

Hi! During the last cycle, I posted a similar question on the MEC Blog Facebook page and they responded pretty quick. I’m not sure if they start filling any spots until after the deadline though

Hi Jess! It took me the entire 4 hours to complete the test. I reread every question about 5 times before answering so it took awhile! I'm a slow test taker. I also had to pee reeeeeeally bad halfway through and luckily they let me go between sections or I wouldn't have made it. Lol!

If you purchase the ATI online practice material/tests, it will help you immensely.

Hey Sara! I received an email about a week or two after I submitted my application that confirmed they received it. Did you get one? If not I would email applymec and confirm. It also said to allow up to 8 weeks after the application deadline (September 20th) for any info on acceptance. So basically, it could take as long as November to find out if we got in. I think I'll go nuts before then. LOL.

How’s everyones’ waiting time going? Lol

Im applying next week after I test. Im confident but still very nervous. They are only taking 100 students.

I took the test on Monday and applied on Monday. I can't wait. I wonder if they have a waitlist. If they have 100 spots and they send the letter to 100 people but 20 of those people also got in somewhere else so they dont accept their acceptance, how do they fill those 20 spots?

Most likely they will go down the tally sheet to select the next 20 as long as they meet the minimum requirements. But I highly doubt 20 people will give up their spots unless they have a life changing event. There is no waiting list.
