Nursing in the States

Published

Hi all,

I'm a Registered Nurse in NZ. And I'm wanting to apply for nursing in the Californian state. I've completed all the required paperwork for the application and just awaiting for a response so I can proceed for the NCLEX.

My question is, for any of you have trained in NZ and is currently working in California. Whether you had to do further studies to meet their requirements and how did you go aabout doing all that?

Any input would be greatly appreciated

Thanks all!

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

If you don't have concurrent clinical & theory on your school transcripts in all mandated areas (adult med/surg, geriatric, obstetrics, pediatrics & psych/mental health) you will require additional training. However the wait lists are hundreds long for extremely few slots and the costs are very high some as high as $14,000 per class. Many needing additional classes have been waiting 2+ years

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

I presume you have your US SSN otherwise California will not accept your application
