Hello everyone, I am glad I found this website so I can communicate with real people and receive real and honest feedback. I am 35 years old and a mother of three. I am in a dead end job where I do not make a difference. I always wanted to make a difference and is considering going to nursing school this fall to hopefully get my ADN and maybe BSN later. Is nursing a good second career?. I have limited time and money and would really like to invest it in a good career for my family. I appreciate any honest feedback. Thank you in advance

Do you want a job where you make a difference or have you always considered nursing? Nursing is a lot about making a difference, but if you wouldn't be passionate about it there are plenty of jobs in other fields that make direct impacts on people (eg social work, etc).
I have to correct something from my previous post I do make a difference in my job in the fact I work with children by helping them learn and grow. I just feel stuck with no possibility of moving up. I have limited support but great determination. I have researched the market . I am in Indianapolis apparently it is though for new grads like everywhere else. I like that sense of intense satisfaction of helping relieve someone else pain. Social work will not do it for me. You almost never see the results of your work. I appreciate your comments. I need to know if it is a good route to take. I know it is a big decision and I cannot afford to make a mistake wit little ones to care for. Thanks for advices, I feel a sense of support from everyone who took the time to respond!!!

If you are in Indianapolis- please look at the pre-licensure program through WGU.
