Nursing school

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

I'm thinking of going to nursing school and I was wondering if I should do LPN or go to RN. Any comments are welcomed

What are your long term goals? What is the job market like for both these positions? What are the schools like in your area? What is your previous (if any) schooling like (ie GPA)?

I ask these questions because in my area, there aren't as many job options for LPNs. RN schools, however, are extremely hard and competitive to get into. I've known people to get their LPN (because it was easier to get into school) and then do an LPN to RN bridge program which was easier to get into than straight RN.

So I'd evaluate your long term goals, what the job market in your area is like, what the schools in your area are like and go from there

Good luck :)

I just started my PN program. The entire program is less than $7,000. Majority is paid for by financial aid except for what I.have to pay out of pocket (uniforms, registration, etc.) 29k is honestly not worth it and plenty of money to pay out. With or without financial aid. I hope you seriously reconsider your decision. I don't live in California but I don't think anyone should pay such an insane amount of money for LPN. Best of luck to you.

In my area of northern CA all of the non impacted nursing schools cost around $ 30k+ There are jobs in my are for LVNs in SNFs. Research the pay scale and job market and if it meets your other goals, as Krissiepoo explained, I recommend you go for it. I did and am about to graduate in a few days!
