Nursing Residency Programs

Hi! :)

I am planning to apply to a couple of RN residency programs. But first I would like to hear from those that have completed or is currently in a RN residency program. Do they offer relocation assistance? Do they offer loan repayment assistance? What's the starting salary? Were you able to secure a job at the end of the program? Any information will be appreciated!

Thanks!!! :nurse:

Hmmm - in view of the fact that most new grad residency programs are receiving > 10 applications for each open slot, they just don't need to offer any financial incentives to the applicants. It's just supply and demand. IF the trend reverses and applicants become hard to find, then they will probably pay relo again.

At this time, specialty & hard-to-find positions are the only ones paying relocation.

You may be able to negotiate a relocation 'advance' (loan) with repayment to be deducted from your salary - this is definitely not unheard of.

Hello! I am currently in a Versant Residence program in southern california. They offer no loan repayment or relocation assistance here. Also, we start out with the same pay as a nurse with 0 years of experience ~29/hr. It is a position so after the residence is over you begin working on your own in the unit you were trained.

I agree with the previous reply, supply vs demand, if you find a program with any incentives other than a job I would go for it. Our program had 24 spots and over 800 applications, it's insane.

best of luck
