Is it an essay on qualitive and quantitative research and evidenced based practice?

Sometimes the abstract of a research article is a good place to start, if one is available.

Research was a yucky class for me, too. I found that I learned most about research in my other classes as I had to evaluate articles found throughout the literature for future papers I had to write in other classes. I learned a lot about research in statistics class, as well.

I used my small paperback text during class, and it was difficult to get into reading.

Frommy Sixth edition "Notter's Essentials of Nursing Research" by Jacqueline Rose Hott and Wendy C. Budin:

Pg. 31-32

"Qualitative research relies less on numbers and measurements and more on observations and interpersonal communication that provide a holistic view of the subject's experiences withut limiting questions or responses." They "are often used when little is known about a phenomenon."

Pg. 86 There are "common approaches used in qualitative research--phenomonology, ethnography, and grounded theory."

Are you required to use any of these approaches?

There is also mention of hermeneutics as an approach.

Are you required to conduct a qualitative study? What does the assignment detail?

Also, if you are having trouble with terms, do a search in the internet to help you define the terms.

Are there any people that you can team up with so that you can help each other with the assignment?

Is there a teacher's assistant that you can go to?

Is there an upperclassman that you know that has taken the class and can help you out?

I know that you feel that you cannot go to the professor, but you may have to as a last resort. I am sure that trying will not hurt. If you fail this assignment or the class, you will have wished that you tried EVERYTHING.

I, like the others in my class, felt that we did not learn anything in Research class, yet we used many of the fundamentals in later classes, as you will, too. Try to get everything you can out of the class and know that you are not alone in feeling this way. Ask around to your other classmates. If others are having the problems you are, then your professor or your director of your program should be aware.

ok got a 72 on assingment #2...not good. assign #3 is due tomorrow...u can see what kind of teacher I have to deal with...we just got it last night.

Anyway...I need to figure out an easy way to find the dependant and independant variables in a hypothese/research question.

Heres an example...she gave us a few to try and Im still lost...exam next week =(

1. Research question - Is there a relationship between academic performance and resilience?

2. DV academic performance IV resilience

Thanks for all ur info...I am getting a bit of help from another senior student who just took her last spring but with this being summer, eveyrone rom my class seems to be working a lot or back at home. Its anight class and most of the class work during the daya nd they are not traditional student so I dont really know any of them, besides, we all feel the same way and have the same dumbfounded look on our faces in class. There is no teacher assistant and I do go to her if I am really stuck.. problem is, she makes it sounds simple when she's explaining it then when u get the assignment , your stuck again. Back to square one. I WILL NOT fail this class...I refuse. Ive come to far to fail a 3 credit class with this woman.
