I begin nursing school in January. I am very excited about this new career. What publications are recommended if I want to stay up to date with current health news, research, nursing trends, etc?

hi, liz520!
i have subscriptions to nursing 2007 and rn magazine. i don't get ajn (the american journal of nursing) anymore, but it generally has articles related to nursing research in it. ajn is published by the american nurses association. a lot of nursing students subscribe to and like nursing made incredibly easy magazine. it is published by lww (lippincott, williams & wilkins) who also publish a huge bunch of nursing textbooks. i had a one year subscription to it and never renewed it. the magazine only has informational articles in it that you can find in current nursing textbooks as far as i am concerned. for the specific nursing research that is being done in the various specialties of nursing you have to look to the specialty journals. rather than subscribe to them, it is easier to go to a health sciences or medical library that subscribes to them to view the articles. here are links to listings of most of the nursing journals that are currently published:
http://www.nursingcenter.com/library/index.asp#journals - this is the list of magazines on the nursing center website. these may just be the nursing magazines that lippincott, williams & wilkins publishes.

since you are going to be a student nurse, please make sure you check out allnurses nursing student forums. here is a page of links that lists them: https://allnurses.com/forums/f196/ . you will find lots of helpful weblinks in the "sticky" threads on the student forums to help you with your nursing school work.
