I am looking into working for a nursing agency as I need flexibility with my life and I am concerned about committing full time to a hospital again. There are so many nursing agencies - does anyone know how to generate a list of nursing agencies and also information on their pay rates in the area that you live. I live near Philadelphia, PA and I have found agencies, such as, Favorite Nursing, RCM Healthcare. How can I find the pay rates and also nursing agencies in my area?
Thanks - Ginny:typing

Each agency negotiates their own contract with each facility. The pay from each agency differs not only according to that contract but according to how much over the amount you get paid that they charge the facility. The only way to find out pay is to contact the agencies. Some will not give you exact ranges unless you sign up with them. Most people sign up with one or two and if they don't like the pay there, they will go to another one.

When I am interested in specific info about agencies or other employers, I just call up the employer and ask them directly. Otherwise, when I really just want a job, I go in person and apply for the job and find out the pay and other details during the hiring process. I've found that very few employers will place pay rates in employment ads, but you can usually find this info out when you place a discrete, polite call to them.
