Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. I graduated from NTI in Dec 2006. It's not that hard to get accepted. Pick up the application form, get your reference letters, take your pre-tests and get everything turned in before the due date. It's usually first come, first served, as long as your scores are passing. They have one class a year now, that starts in Jan with pre-reqs and graduates the following year in June. The program is geared to getting you to pass the NCLEX, and most years they have a 100% pass rate. I found it interesting enough to keep my attention, clinicals were not hard, tests are always stressful, but learn how to study and you'll be fine.
Best of luck to you!

Hi Rhonda!
Thanks so much for your information about NTI!! If I can ask, are you working as an LPN in NWA? If so,how do you find the starting pay rates in the area? I am interested in oncology - I'm a certified phlebotomist, EKG tech, Pharm tech and will be getting a certification in colding and billing before I apply at NTI. I moved from Fayetteville last year and am in Flagstaff, Arizona working on an Associates degree in medical specialties. Any more information you have about NTI or anything related would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks again for your time!

I worked as a Patient Care Assistant for 3 years in a family practice clinic. before going to school. I was making above my pay scale because of my skill level, had phlebotomy training, ran the EKG's, you name it, at the time I went to school. Pay rates for nursing are notoriously low in NWA. My company starts new LPN's, with no experience, at $12.00 an hour, up to $17.00 to top out. I started back about mid-range. I can't speak for the hospitals, but other clinics I've seen advertised in the paper are in the $12 range.
You might check in the Rogers/Bentonville area, as they are growing at a much faster rate than Fayetteville. And the new St Mary's has opened on I-540.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your time Rhonda! I will continue to think on my decision. After all of this schooling PLUS adding another 18 or so months on to it and another $7K in tuition - don't think $12-$17 would be even in the ballpark for what I would hope to be paid -you're right NWA is not the best place to make money! Well, thanks again! Good luck in your work! I'll keep thinking on it!
