NS pack for lab

I had to purchase a nurse pack for skills lab and I don't get to see it until my first lab, it is being sent straight to my school. Just curious, anybody know whats in it?

The lab packs at my school contained items that we would need for both our clinicals and our skill validations (eg., sterile gloves, penlight, bandage scissors, splash goggles, foley catheter kit, IV start kit, CPR pocket mask, etc.). :)

Thanks! We had to buy a penlight and bandage scissors, so we won't have those, but I hope we get a CPR pocket mask: I was going to buy one, but I will wait now. Did you only get one IV start kit? Our pack was 71.00 so I'm hoping it will have a lot of stuff!;)

Mine had a sterile wound care kit, a foley kit, IV start kit, central line tray, trach care tray, suction catheter kit, sterile gloves, gown and mask.

We had to purchase a new pack for each semester. They each contained whatever was relevant to that semester. I think they were around $70-80, as well. We only received one IV start kit, but we had access to more in the lab so that we could practice. :)

This would be a great kit too! I can't wait to open mine, but I have to wait until 8/28 *sigh* it's like waiting for Christmas: for a NS!:lol2:

They gave us a breakdown of extras for the whole 2 years and it only lists the nurse pack for first year, first semester......now I'm really curious!:lol2:

This nursing pack thing is kinda interesting. Aren't you simply buying items that your lab already has? And are you actually going to use your own sterile gloves, foley kit and trach kit at clinical? If your trached pt doesn't have on-board (i.e., closed system) suctioning, that kit only gonna allow you to suction 'em once. We're required to buy a stethoscope only and they suggest you get bandage scissors and hemos. They figure that we're gonna determine what we really need as we gain experience. As for penlights, I've gone to an small LED one which

is far surperior to the EMS style I've used in the past.

These supplies are for skills lab at the school, when we practice on the dummies and each other, not for clinicals!;)
