NS Burnout

Im in my 3rd semester of NS. I have 3 more to go, but I feel totally burned out. I took a mental health day today & luckily I only missed a communications class. Im hoping I get out of this "funk" soon. Oh BTW, Im in an accelerated program (16 weeks on, one week off, even though I end up reading on my off week)

Im just wondering does anyone else feel burned out?

I'm there with you. Yeserday, after a horrible day of disrespect at clinical, I came home and cried to my husband that I was quitting. :crying2: I felt that I could not read another page and couldn't take another day of disrespect from the instructors, nursing staff, pca's. :angryfire This morning, I got up dusted myself off, and will start reading again in an hour and I'll graduate in Aug. You can push through as well! Call a friend and get caught up on the communications lecture that you missed. Communications is a tricky test topic. Good luck!

Take a breather for yourself - i figured that if i spend one hour a day (or even a half an hour) doing whatever I wanted, I felt soo much better! I sleep or watch a good movie or go get ice cream =).

But remember that's its all worth it and this is only a tiny fraction compared to the rest of your life..

Yes, this is only a small time and it will go away. Even with your accelerated program, you do need to take a break every now and then for yourself. While in school, I experienced many frustrating times, to which I usually went out with some of my classmates (without studying) and then, although odd, enjoyed the times while at work.

Have faith I am in my last semester of a 2 year program which actually takes about 3 years with pre regs, last semester I was a mess could not get motivated, totally burnt out, I thought for sure I failed my med surg final but I passed, just started my senior semester and am totally up for it and totally into it, sometimes it just needs to pass by itself, there are no quitters in nursing

Keep your chin up! You're 1/2 way there-and thats great! i still have 2 classes of prereq's before i can even start NS! lol..

Thanks everyone. Im feeling better & starting to get back into my groove. I knew NS was hard, but sometimes I wonder what Im doing. The saying is true though, "If it was easy, everyone would be doing it."
