When did you apply for your NPI number? Did you apply for it independently or did your employer send off the paperwork? How long did the process take?

It only takes 20 minutes if you apply directly on the NPI website:

I have an NPI as an IBCLC that I did on my own...took maybe 15 minutes. I'll add the NP when I'm done.

If you get one on your own be careful what address you use: if you put in your home address than your home address/phone will be visible to the public.
It takes a matter of minutes to hours to do it online.

I'm an independent provider...was kind of stuck having to provide my own address. I'm not too worried about it. Reality is...if somebody has your name and they want to find you they will find you.
